I’m privileged to work closely with ICON students as an instructor of Music Business.
We start by instilling an entrepreneurial mindset from the very beginning. The course encourages students to treat themselves as independent business professionals that control their own destiny. They learn to maintain positive core values that attract like-minded colleagues and teammates. We then move on to dissecting the many layers and moving parts of today’s music business in ways that make sense to their trajectory. We finally shift the focus back on them to zone in on their unique value propositions and essentially create brands from them. This allows students to uniquely position themselves in the ever-changing music space.

Eager to harness the industry leaders of tomorrow, Hisham lectures adjunctly here at ICON Collective nurturing holistic creative thinking and technical skills equally. Having once received a tremendous amount of value from an academic music business setting himself, he commits to fostering the next wave of informed artists, entrepreneurs, and music business professionals.
A musician raised in the heart of San Francisco’s burgeoning technology scene, Hisham earned his stripes in the music business working with the legendary DJ Shadow on online marketing and merchandise operations. While studying at San Francisco State University, he began documenting the evolving music/tech scene around the Bay Area as a journalist for Hypebot.com and Billboard.biz.

Hisham eventually came to work with Michael Fiebach to launch the digital strategy agency Fame House. The award-winning global agency helped artists capitalize on their online presence by connecting with fans through unique campaigns. Some of his top clients include Eminem, Tiësto, Pearl Jam, Beatport, and many more. Hisham also began touring with his clients to understand their world better. This included an extensive tenure on the island of Ibiza working with Richie Hawtin and several other mainstays in electronic music. His efforts included building brands and activating global audiences. In 2013, the dominant electronic music network SFX Entertainment acquired Fame House. Then in 2016, Universal Music Group purchased the company.
Today Hisham works independently with clientele at the intersection of music, entertainment, and technology as a strategist and consultant. When he’s not teaching the next generation of talent at ICON Collective, Hisham hosts the podcast OnRepeat, which examines the evolution and trajectory of his industry.
On a more casual day, you’ll find Hisham producing music, skating the streets of Downtown Los Angeles, or just utterly consumed with professional wrestling.
